Need A Safe & Legal Abortion? Hey Jane Can Help!
If you haven’t gathered it from me already, at my core I am a woman who seeks to help and lift others up through the means that I can.
This blog post is all about doing that. I’m shining a bright light on Tori Dunlap and her work in making topics like this one more transparent and accessible. I’m giving Kiki Freedman all of her flowers for her work with Hey Jane and helping others navigate such a messy conversation topic with the true facts.
Mainly though, this blog post is for YOUR knowledge and for anyone you may know who is seeking an abortion for whatever personal reason they may have.
I care deeply about this topic because I am a fierce believer in never mandating what a person should get to do with their own body, but abortion is already personal for me with my own history.
I’ve never had an abortion, but I did have a D&C (dilation and curettage) with my myomectomy in February of 2024 to remove my fibroids which were giving me extremely heavy period bleeding (cantalope size clotting, no exaggeration).
The D&C is a part of the entire in-clinic abortion process, making the procedure on its own harder to get in states like Texas. This is even for women who are not even pregnant, further proving that the overturning of Roe was for control over our bodies and nothing more.
Through the phenomenal work of Tori Dunlap and her podcast Financial Feminist, I am grateful to have learned about companies like Hey Jane.
Hey Jane was co-founded by Kiki Freedman while she was at Harvard Business School, and she is also the company’s CEO.
Hey Jane gives people seeking an abortion for whatever reason they have for themselves personally the legal options and tools to navigate the country safely for their procedures, how to obtain access to the abortion pill in other states, and much more.
Kiki is a guiding light in this episode of Financial Feminist with debunking the myths that surround abortion, explains why making abortion illegal makes it actually more harmful for mothers and the medical industry overall, and what the abortion pill is and the process in taking it.
She also discusses the process about in-clinic abortions, what you can legally and safely do for yourself if you are in a state that does NOT have abortion access, what safety measures you can take with insurance billing, traveling across the country, and much, much more.
I encourage you to give this podcast episode a listen yourself, and to check out all of the other episodes of Financial Feminist with Tori Dunlap. Check out the information below for links on the podcast, and more info on Hey Jane and navigation links below.
